JUPITER & OKWESS

Première partie : Koko Dembélé

music concert

Kinshasa / Bamako

Jupiter explores the rich variety of traditional Congolese rhythms, mixing them with the electric sound of rock. His music, with its urban vibe and wild rhythms, de es categorisation. A real musical laboratory.

Jupiter first came to public attention in 2006 with Jupiter’s Dance, a documentary on the new music scene in Kinshasa, where he is an emblematic figure. Jupiter has just released Kin sonic, a new album with some prestige collaborations such as Warren Ellis (a Nick Cave faithful in the Bad Seeds), Damon Albarn, and 3D (Massive Attack), who made the album sleeve. Jupiter's aim is to journey through the rhythms, languages, and customs of the four hundred or so ethnic groups in his country: an unexplored heritage that he transcends with groove fusion, experimental trance, Nigerian Afrobeat and rock'n'roll bofenia. All his lyrics reveal his unique brand of benevolent wisdom.

Show presented in coproduction with Africa Fête Festival.
