Éric Minh Cuong Castaing

dance World premiere

Marseille

In this piece for drones and dancers, the choreographer continues to explore human and non-human movement, challenging perceptions and representations of the body in the digital age.

Four dancers and a few drones cause a rumpus on stage. Evocative of the remote-controlled planes of our childhood and the deadly new weapons of modern warfare, weird robotic drones whirr around the stage and interact with the dancers. Combining contemporary dance with traditional Dabkeh Arab dancing, Eric Minh Cuong Castaing creates a piece in which Man and machine mirror one another. Connected in real time to the inhabitants of a war zone, dancers and audience become part of an ephemeral community gathered to witness a porous performance: this is choreography that knows no borders.
