In hospitals: dance workshops by Danya Hammoud

The Festival has asked the Lebanese dancer and choreographer to run a series of workshops with psychiatric patients at the Hôpital de la Conception in Marseille.

Since autumn 2024, the patients have attended two workshops a month, taking a deep dive into artistic creativity and enjoying this opportunity to discover the practice of contemporary dance and the disciplines that make up Danya’s world.

What moves us? What triggers the desire to start moving and to enter into a relationship with what’s outside of us? These questions lie at the heart of the workshops, which will continue until June 2025, ending with a final session open to all during the Festival.

Born in Beirut, Danya Hammoud lives and works in Marseille. A leading figure in the very active and creative “new” Lebanese cultural scene, she has presented her performances at several international festivals.

In partnership with AP-HM (Marseille hospitals) and with support from the City of Marseille and the department of Bouches-du-Rhône.
