Candela Capitán began training in classical dance from a very young age at the Conservatory of Cádiz, before returning to her hometown, Seville, to study contemporary dance. A few years later, she joined the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona, where she trained for six years.
Through immersive installations, performances and audiovisual works, she explores alienation, eroticisation and the automation of desire in digital environments, where the body is trapped between surveillance and constant exposure. Her work questions the dissociation between presence and virtuality, as well as new forms of control and representation in contemporary culture.
Candela Capitán plays with female sexuality and voyeurism, explores the abysses of human life and reveals its dark side, but always with playful irony.
