Children with motor disorders

The Festival has invited the company Shōnen to lead a cycle of 15 dance workshops with children from the Saint-Thys Institute for Motor Education in Marseille. This experience will give rise this summer to a new version of p/\rc__, a striking and delicate ballet imagined by Éric Minh Cuong Castaing, Aloun Marchal and Marine Relinger.

How can we dance together when bodies move differently? How can everyday gestures become choreographic material? And how can dance become a space where everyone can fully exist?

Since January, the children have been exploring different ways of moving, relating and inhabiting space. The dancers support their experiments: lifting, supporting, sliding, turning, inventing gestures from the possibilities of each body.

Through these regular encounters, the work is continuously reinvented and collectively shaped, nourished by the children’s proposals, imaginations and impulses.
