“Poetic, seductive, tender, enchanting yet raw, Kat Válastur’s works convey a sense of urgency.” Her piece inspired by the Greek myth of Iphigenia, Strong-Born, was a feminine ode performed by three young goddesses of body percussion. In her solo Dive into You, body, voice and sounds resonate in a continuous flow: wrapped in an elliptical luminous halo, the artist draws inspiration from the deep, resonant sounds of the semantron, a wooden percussion instrument. She physically interacts with the instrument, creating snaps, slides, rhythmic beats and spirals. Featuring the music of French artist Aho Ssan and the dancer's own voice, the piece is reminiscent of an oracle. A vibrant gestural dive into her half-archaic, half-contemporary world, inviting us to connect with our most secret selves…
