PARADE

L'Autre Maison

dance Work step before creation in 2022

Production

Marseille

With their references to music hall, cabaret, circus and queer ballroom culture, the 18 performers of the L’Autre Maison company present a futuristic parade that could only come from Marseille. They act as ambassadors for gender and identity fluidity.

Parade created by Cocteau, Picasso, Satie and Massine for the Ballets Russes is both part of the repertoire and a piece of avant-garde theatre. This strange paradoxe prompted Andrew Graham to make History his own in a parade that is open to all kinds of interpretation and fields of expression. The eighteen performers, all from Marseille, enter the stage in all their joyous diversity: bodies, sounds, words and objects collide in a show orchestrated by the director Béatrice Pedraza, the choreographer Andrew Graham and the musician I Was Sleeping aka Martin Poncet. A historic ballet that serves as a springboard for the emergence of new forms and bodies collectively diving into creative action: amateurs and professionals, physically or mentally disabled or not, of all ages, some in wheelchairs… Following on from the show titled Sublime.é, this new step along the way explores the formidable capacity for transformation that we all possess.
