The Festival's commitments
A Mediterranean city and a global city whose past and present are rich and complex, Marseille is a setting for major contemporary challenges. This is precisely why our Festival explores the role and representations of the body/of bodies in the community and invites local artists and artists from further afield to put together a programme that is not only aesthetically compelling and sensitive but also resonates with the society we live in. It strives to ensure that a wide range of modes of expression and artistic idioms are accessible to as many people as possible.
The Festival de Marseille is a space for artistic propagation that fosters togetherness, joy and inspiration. Our team shares these commitments with a huge network of partners, explores, invents and used new formats for enhanced solidarity and accessibility, in particular thanks to our special “solidarity” tickets for 1 euro and our 10-euro admission to all shows, mediation initiatives in all the city’s neighbourhoods, and a range of solutions designed for disabled, underprivileged or vulnerable people.
All bodies are visible on the Festival stages. Our inclusive approach is also reflected in exemplary solutions designed to make our programme accessible to all. All year round, we reach out to the entire local community, offering practical workshops mixing disabled and able-bodied participants and establishing educational programmes for over a thousand children and young people, from primary school to university.
Committed to using ever more sustainable production and distribution methods, the Festival de Marseille is gradually transforming its practices (using solar-powered equipment, carrying equipment by bike, etc.) and chooses its suppliers based on green criteria.
The Festival team receives training in French sign language, easy-to-understand writing style, mental health first aid and sexist and sexual abuse prevention.
The aim of this inclusive and eco-responsible Festival is to contribute to a fairer and more hospitable future, especially for the younger generation.
Drawing from the rich resources and intelligence of its home city, the Festival team is committed to consolidating and developing its initiatives in constant dialogue with its entire ecosystem, namely the local community, audiences, partners and performers.
