From the streets of Kinshasa to the stage comes “the snake dance” bursting with rage and frustration. Set to frenzied music by DJ Samantha and staged by the young choreographer Pepe “Elmas” Naswa.

When the new dance star of Kinshasa combines contemporary dance with the “snake dance” performed by street children and kids from gangs, the result is an explosive cocktail! More than ever before, Pepe “Elmas” brilliantly rises to the challenge of combining opposites in a sophisticated choreography that never forgets its roots in the city streets. He retains the inventive energy and energetic style of the snake dance, influenced by the rhythms of Kinshasa nightclubs and hip-hop. The combination of street dancers, a DJ and a singer and master of ceremonies is the key to the show’s success: dance becomes the mirror of the resilience of an abandoned generation…
