The three choreographers of the Rite

Yendi Nammour

Yendi Nammour was born and grew up in Austria. When she was 18 she enrolled at the Vienna Conservatory where she immersed herself in the world of German dance and obtained her contemporary dance diploma. She continued her training at the CDC in Toulouse, then moved to Marseille. She has worked with contemporary choreographers such as Virginia Heinen, Anne Le Batard, Christine Fricker, Jany Jérémie, Zéline Zonzon, Samir El Yamni, and Jens Bjerregaard. She developed a taste for dance-theatre, and the Takween company in Beirut brought her close to her Lebanese roots and awakened a desire to produce shows herself. At the age of 31, Yendi began her own choreographic research, creating the soli The day I started sticking pieces of tape all around..., Loups Of Various Emotions and Light my Fire.
Intrigued by the body as a tool, she began training in Spiraldynamik® in 2015 and explored its teachings. Today she alternates between artistic research supported by L'L in Brussels, teaching, and performance. She likes working in several disciplines at once, breaking down barriers between genres, challenging norms, and investigating what it means to be human in collaboration with artists from different backgrounds.
Following a proposal by Michel Kelemenis (KLAP Maison pour la danse), a partner of L’L, Yendi Nammour began her first research project for L'L in 2014 as part of its support programme.

Samir M’Kirech

Samir M’Kirech started out in football and breakdancing, while also studying theatre. Seeing La Grande Fugue choreographed by Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker was a decisive experience: at 19 he began training in ballet at the Conservatoire National de Région in Rouen, then joined the Martha Graham Dance School in New York under tutorship of Marnie Thomas, then Virginie Mécène. He danced for three years in the Martha Graham 2 dance company. He specialised in Junior Ballet in Geneva, under the artistic leadership of Sean Wood and Patrice Delay, where he took part in productions by Alexander Ekman, Thierry Malandain, Patrick Delacroix, Ken Ossola and Guilherme Botelho. Samir M’Kirech took part in several international touring productions such as Can We Talk About This with DV8 Physical Theatre in London (artistic director Lloyd Newson), the opera Mârouf directed by Franck Chartier (Peeping Tom company), Robot with Blanca Li and nicht schlafen with Alain Platel (C de la B).
Since then he has reprised roles in Solstice by Blanca Li and for Compagnie Resodancer directed by Laura Lamy and Tristan Robillard, and has just taken part in Three Ages with Idem in Switzerland.

Isabelle Cavoit

Née à Paris en 1961, Isabelle Cavoit was born in Paris in 1961 and trained in ballet in Champigny sur Marne. She spent time at the American Center in Paris in the 1980s, familiarising herself with contemporary techniques with Jane Honor, Lari Leong, Robert Kovitch, and Bill T. Jones. When she arrived in Marseille in 1986, she created her company Groupe PM Garage-hotel and staged her first performances, including Les Voisins and Du pain, du vin, des roses. She discovered the work of Mark Tompkins, Daniel Lepkof and Lisa Nelson, and explored improvised dance and performance art, embarking on unique adventures with partners including Geneviève Sorin and Bernard Menaut. Her dance emerges from the unexpected and the bizarre: in natural environments, in apartments, in a theatre project, in a gallery, in the heart of the city. With Alain Fourneau at the Théâtre Les Bernardines and the Okholo Stanislavski Theatre in Moscow, she took part in an experiment bringing together the languages of theatre, music and dance. Isabelle Cavoit works regularly with musicians on live performances that develop from interactions with audiences: DANCING, Fanfare-Ballet, Lepluspetitespacepossible, Les Aventures Extra-Chorégraphiques Menaut… For many years she has been interested in the internal processes of movement, in anatomy, and in the relationships between human beings and their environment. A passionate teacher, she has found the Feldenkrais Method to be a particularly useful technique for raising awareness through movement, providing the tools not only for her own personal investigations but also making it possible for her to share her knowledge in courses and group and individual sessions for all kinds of people. She took part in the project Une longue peine and the film Après l'Ombre by the Les Hommes company, based on interviews with former prisoners.
She runs workshops for young people with autism, and is engaged in an on-going partnership with KLAP in Marseille.
