I Silenti

Fabrizio Cassol, Tcha Limberger, Lisaboa Houbrechts

musical show music

Coproduction

Bruxelles / Anvers / Saint-Sébastien

At the intersection of a concert, a dance show, an opera and a piece of theatre, I silenti invents a form with a unique atmosphere, a dreamlike space that pays tribute to the Romani soul and to those who are condemned to silence. A space for poetic expression echoing the music of Monteverdi that inspired Fabrizo Cassol.

After Coup fatal and Requiem pour L. with Alain Platel and Macbeth with Brett Bailey, the composer and saxophonist explores the original popular essence of Monteverdi’s madrigals, which express the drama, passion and joy of human emotion. His music is transcended by sounds from the award-winning Roma multi-instrumentalist Tcha Limberger and seven musicians and singers, directed by Lisaboa Houbrechts. Like some ceremonial ritual, the emotional power of the singing, the depth of the polyphonies and the abstract force of the bodies are thrilling evocations of love, exile, love and war, paying tribute to the silent soul of survivors of the Roma genocide during World War II.

MEETING with the artistic team Saturday, June 19 after the performance

Due to the worsening of the pandemic crisis in India, dancer Shantala Shivalingappa will unfortunately not be able to participate in the performances of I SILENTI.

The 'total lockdown' in India and the impossibility of travelling outside the country's borders meant that there was no possibility of travel.

Lisaboa Houbrechts and Fabrizio Cassol had, however, foreseen this possibility by preparing two separate versions of the show.

The essence of I SILENTI, carried by the unique voice of Tcha Limberger, thus retains its integrity in an operatic, sensual and poetic production.
