Their music is a crashing wave of electric rock. Their lyrics are wildly poetic. Accompanied by four musicians, Stanislas, Yohann, Aurélien and Kevin are the vocalists of the group named Astéréotypie. All have attended a specialist facility for autistic young people. They reveal their amazing private worlds, encouraged by Christophe, who loves both art brut and educational techniques. When the adventure began in 2010, the young special needs teacher ran a poetry and writing workshop for special needs teenagers in the Paris region. Their creativity and imagination resulted in some powerful personal writing. Featuring concerts and rehearsals, Laetitia Møller’s film follows the group’s creative process. Made up of young autistic performers – some of whom also write for the newspaper Le Papotin –, the punk-like band really lets rip. On stage, they fear nothing—and in this wonderful documentary, they completely steal the show.
