Marina Gomes, a long-time devotee of hip-hop and urban culture, makes dance into « a bridge between underprivileged neighbourhoods and other social environments ». She proves this once again with the project titled Manifête, which gives young people a voice, channels their energy, expresses their dreams, and celebrates their rights and commitments. Taking its inspiration from workshops on children’s rights led by Badaboum Théâtre, their journey through the city centre will become a space for dialogue with the audience invited to experience their visions of the world. Their voices will resonate all the more powerfully because they are the result of a collective project involving a community bringing together teachers, parents and dancers from the Hylel company, accompanied by the scenographer Alice Ruffini and the musician Arsène Magnard. An echo chamber for the finished work, Manifête will transform the city into a stage where each dance movement will become an expression of personal and collective stories. It’s a way of publicly and artistically proclaiming our cultural rights, the rights of children and their freedom of expression and creativity, affirming their status as fully-fledged citizens.
