Monuments, which confronts the History of the 20th century and the history of dance, in order to create fictions that can open up onto new questions about the world. For this project, the Hungarian choreographer, in collaboration with the art historian Christophe Wavelet, has worked with two exceptional performers who have been accompanying mutations in dance for the past sixty years; as prominent figures of the underground American scene, Valda Setterfield and Gus Solomons Jr have among others collaborated with Yvonne Rainer, Mikhail Barychnikov, Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham.... They raise questions together, gathering ideas from their memories, words and movements, wondering how to “make light of death thanks to the surge of desire”.
