For its 30th edition, the Festival de Marseille brought together 450 pupils.
With Manifête, about 450 children and teenagers opened this anniversary edition and occupied the city centre in a massive creative and festive movement.
Designed in collaboration with Badaboum Théâtre and, this unique protest was choreographed by Marina Gomes. Manifête, gave young people a voice, channeled their energy, expressed their dreams, and celebrated their rights and commitments.
Manifête was the result of workshops run throughout the year with 17 high school classes. The programme comprised a total of 310 hours of discussions and dance/creative workshops. Designed by and for these youngsters, the dance event expressed their feelings, their desires, their visions and their dreams. A true celebration of cultural rights and children’s rights, this unique project shined a light on dance as a tool for sharing and advocacy, while opening the way towards civic emancipation.
