Manifête

Over 400 children opened the 30th edition

For its 30th edition, the Festival de Marseille brought together 450 pupils.

With Manifête, about 450 children and teenagers opened this anniversary edition and occupied the city centre in a massive creative and festive movement.

Designed in collaboration with Badaboum Théâtre and, this unique protest was choreographed by Marina Gomes. Manifête, gave young people a voice, channeled their energy, expressed their dreams, and celebrated their rights and commitments.

Manifête was the result of workshops run throughout the year with 17 high school classes. The programme comprised a total of 310 hours of discussions and dance/creative workshops. Designed by and for these youngsters, the dance event expressed their feelings, their desires, their visions and their dreams. A true celebration of cultural rights and children’s rights, this unique project shined a light on dance as a tool for sharing and advocacy, while opening the way towards civic emancipation.
