Festival de Marseille

The 25th edition of the Festival will not take place

As we face this unprecedented health crisis, our first thoughts go to the victims and their families, healthcare and social services personnel, and front-line workers.

Following the French President’s announcement on 13 April 2020, the Festival de Marseille, in agreement with the City Council and its public partners, regrets to announce the cancellation of its 2020 edition, which was scheduled to take place from 19 June to 9 July.

The 25th edition of the Festival de Marseille was to bring together 25 artists and companies from all over the world in 16 venues, with support from a wide range of partners. We deeply regret not being able to share the programme that we were so eager to present this summer, but the priority today is to find a way out of this health crisis.

The Festival de Marseille, like the entire artistic and cultural sector, is going through a difficult period. All our efforts are now focused on coping with this crisis together, and the Festival team remains active in order to minimise its impact on the event’s artistic, technical and administrative teams.

Although the performers will be unable to meet their audiences this summer, we continue to keep them connected. Let us look forward to the future: a future where artists, audiences and citizens will, more than ever before, need beauty, imagination, joy, and most importantly, shared spaces!
