Zone Critique

For about ten years, the philosopher Bruno Latour and the theatre director Frédérique Aït-Touati have been working together on projects that lie at the intersection between research and theatre. They develop different forms of theatrical and performative writing in their company, Zone Critique.

They produce events that are both lectures and performances (Tarde / Durkheim, Cerisy and Cambridge, 2007 ; Bergson/Einstein, Centre Pompidou, 2010 ; Anthropocène Conférence, Musée des Confluences and Quai Branly, 2015), Gaïa Global Circus (2013-2016, toured in France, UK, Switzerland, Germany, the US and Canada), Théâtre des Négociations / Make it Work (Nanterre-Amandiers Theatre, with Philippe Quesne, 2015), INSIDE (Nanterre-Amandiers Theatre 2016, toured 2017 - 2019 in Berlin, Frankfurt, New York, TJPCDN  Strasbourg, Kaaitheatre Brussels and Théâtre National de La Criée, Marseille), Moving Earths (Centre Pompidou, Nanterre-Amandiers, Théâtre de l’Odéon, Berliner Festspiele, Taipei Biennale, Théâtre de l’Hexagone, Bozar Brussels, Tangram Théâtre d’Evreux).

Somewhere between the history of science, theatre and scientific research, La Trilogie Terrestre explores the aesthetic and political consequences of a broad redefinition of living things proposed by the earth sciences.
