What remains of the Egyptian revolution of 2011? Confronted with images of their past and memories of the uprising, four young people from the “Tahrir generation” revisit their hopes for democracy, undermined by the current military regime of Marshal al-Sisi. Driven by a desire to believe that the revolt was not in vain, Staying Alive offers an intimate portrait of a generation carrying both the memory and the burden of an aborted revolution.
