An artist and author of the drawn blog La Vie à croquer, Mathilde François recounts the politics of intimacy. She deals with crip issues: questions relating to the disabled body that take place in varied media: lecture-cum-performance, short films, fanzines... She is vice-chair of the anti-ableist charity Les Dévalideuses and advocates for ecological and social change within organisations.
What non-conforming bodies teach us
Mathilde François
Ableism criticises any departure from abled norms. Anyone whose existence is perceived to hinder the uniform quick march of the world is declared to be “disabled”. Non-conforming bodies are queer; they are “crips”. In addition to surviving, they create experimental spaces and propose intimate and political insurrections.
